Old Business:
WVGSA results were discussed. Melrose scores were at or above the state and county scores. Our fourth grade had the top scores in ELA. Our fourth and fifth were the second highest in Math in Mercer County. Our fifth grade showed significant growth in math.
Safety concerns were addressed. A walk between the main building and the playground would be beneficial to our students in wheelchairs. An intruder drill was done earlier in the day during lunches and recesses. During the drills the need for two additional nightlocks were discovered. A speaker outside to the playground is needed to alert staff to danger when they are outside with students. Due to the practice drill this came to our attention when those at recess were not aware of the practice drill. Also, tinting on the cafeteria windows are needed.
An update on the Outdoor Classroom was given. Money has been raised and we are ready to pursue getting the shelter built.
New Business:
What is LSIC? A video provided by the state was shown.
New members were elected (Megan Atkinson, Daphne Spencer, Kim Meadows, Katina Billings, and Sally Lester).
New year plans were outlined and coordinated with PTO.
Balance Scorecard was shared.
Hammock Garden was updated and will be installed soon.
Other topics discussed were attendance, tutoring, Bible Club, robotics, and running club.
