our school

In a cherished Mercer tradition, the front lawn of Mercer Elementary School has once again been transformed into a beautiful display of American flags in honor of Veterans Day. Each flag represents gratitude for the brave men and women who have served our country with courage and sacrifice. 🇺🇸

This meaningful display is made possible each year through the dedication of Miss Shirley Bourne, who carefully places each flag to ensure our community never forgets the importance of this day.

Built in 1912, Mercer Elementary has stood as a proud part of Princeton’s history for over a century. Generations of students have walked these halls, learning the values of respect, service, and pride—values that shine bright each Veterans Day as our Pirate community comes together to honor America’s heroes.

Principal Dr. Shellie Simpson shared, “Our Veterans Day flag display is one of the most powerful sights of the year. It’s a reminder to our students that freedom isn’t free, and we are proud to honor those who have served.”

Mercer Elementary invites everyone to drive by and see the flag display throughout the week as a symbol of remembrance, respect, and Pirate Pride. ❤️🤍💙
