September 23, 2025 LSIC Minutes
Ms. Honaker started the meeting by greeting and introducing everyone.
Principal updates-
• the school will kick off it’s first fundraiser in October to raise funds for incentives and other needs that may arise.
• Quick overview of last years GSA results and IReady BOY test results. She also shared the school’s balanced scorecard.
• Reported out on staffing. 12 long term substitutes
CIS and social worker-
• Presented the schools attendance incentive kickoff and different rewards the students will have to look forward to.
• All students have access on their laptops to “Let’s Talk”. This is a way they can reach out to someone for mental health needs. All students and staff will be trained in suicide prevention. Staff will be trained in how to identify homeless students (McKinney-Vento Act Training).
New Ideas
• CIS and our school social worker are wanting to do a winter fundraiser. Possibly a 5k.
Looking Ahead
• The next meeting date will be held next nine weeks. That date will be posted on the school Facebook page.

Don't forget about the MCS Express Food Truck this week! Today they're in Bluefield at the Greater Mt. Zion Pentecostal Church. Tomorrow at the First Christian Church across from Straley School, Wednesday at Matoaka Summer Day Camp at the Matoaka Fire Department, and Thursday at the Montcalm Volunteer Fire Department. Each day is from 11:00-12:30. Bring your kids for food and fun!

We want to make you aware that an imitation weapon was found on campus today at Bluefield Middle School. The situation was promptly and appropriately addressed in accordance with school and district policies. At no time were any students or staff in danger. Please be assured that the safety of our students and staff remains our top priority. We appreciate your continued support in helping us maintain a safe and secure learning environment for all.
