
Parents, we will begin testing next week. Please make sure your child comes to school with a charged laptop each day. They will receive points on their testing rubric for being here each day during testing and coming prepared.

Parents: the city of Bluefield will be offering several summer camp opportunities. Information is attached.





Ms. Hulsey and Ms. Moore’s science classes have been learning about the periodic table. Today the students used their skills on reading the periodic table and applied it to “periodic table battleship”.

Our students were invited to attend the Granada Theater unveiling of the newly restored organ. Guest organist Tedde Gibson played the organ along with a silent movie. Our students and teachers enjoyed the comedy presentation.









Congratulations to our band students on the rating of II at the ratings festival. The rating scale is from 1-5 with 1 being the highest rating. We are pleased with the rating of II for our students.



Ms. Rodes and her 7th grade Social Studies classes have been studying ancient Greece and their use of chariots. They made chariots to complete the project.










Congratulations to Miss Hulsey, BMS Teacher of the Year. Miss Hulsey is a 6th grade teacher and has represented the school and county as an Argonaut for Jason Learning, she has rising test data, and a smiling face daily for our students.


Students will not report to school on April 26.


Ms. Martinez's classes are learning about Ancient Greek Columns in Social Studies. Students created their own columns today. They could choose to make either Doric, Ionic, or Corinthian style columns. Here are the results:








Today was our final visit to BSU. Students today visited the radiology lab and engineering lab. They actually took X-rays of a cadaver. Students were thrilled by the experience.Following the trip, Barry Dalton from BSU came to BMS to brag on our students behavior and the supervision provided by Mr. Vaughn. These positive comments make us all extremely proud!

Ms. Hulsey passed the Argonaut torch on to the next group. Congratulations to the 2024-25 group of Jason Learning Argonauts.



BMS 7th grade students took an interest inventory with Gear-Up. Those with an interest in technology or nursing fields went to Bluefield State University today to explore their interests.

Ms. Sheets and her 8th grade science class made pinhole projectors to view the solar eclipse today.







Mr. Vaughn and Ms. Parnell have been reading A long walk to water with their students. Today students carried 5 gallons of water to show how difficult it would be to supply a village with water daily. They understand the convenience of running water.





Students have been learning about the different types of clouds in Ms. Hulsey’s science class. Today, students created a chart describing each cloud and then used cotton balls to create the clouds. Good job students!
