Good evening Melrose Cardinals, Just a few reminders for the week. Fifth Grade parents don't forget we have an informational meeting on Tuesday at 5:00 in the cafeteria. Wednesday grades 3, 4 , and 5 will be traveling to and from Chuck Mathena Center to practice for the spring concert on Thursday. Thursday at 9:00 our students in grades 3, 4, and 5 will perform for all students and parents. There is no evening performance. Remember to bring a nonperishable food item for admission. There is no school for students on Friday, April 26th. Spring pictures and LSIC at 8:30 are on Tuesday, April 30th. Have a great evening, Mrs. Bennett

Good evening Melrose Cardinals, Thank you for sending in your coins for our coin war. We will announce our winners on Monday. We have collected enough for several picnic tables. Don't forget to send in your aluminum cans. We need those on Monday, April 15th. Don't forget group pictures on Tuesday, April 16th. The benefit spaghetti dinner for the Nowlin family is on Monday, April 15th at Mercer School. Mr. Nick is one of our bus drivers. The Spring Concert is set for Thursday, April 25th. There will only be a 9:00 performance. There will be no 7:00 performance. Entry fee is a canned food item. All food items will go to Tender Mercies food pantry. Parents are welcome to join us at 9:00 for the concert. No school on Friday, April 26th. Have a great evening, Mrs. Bennett

Good evening Melrose Cardinals, I have several reminders for the month of April. Group picture day is Tuesday, April 16 and Spring picture day is Tuesday, April 30. Our next running club starts tomorrow. It will be every Tuesday and students must be picked up by 3:30 at the gym. Students needed to sign up prior to joining. Good evening Melrose Cardinals, Hopefully everyone had a restful spring break. I have just a couple reminders. Don't forget our 1,2,3,4 I Declare a Coin War to raise funds for picnic tables. Monday we are collecting pennies. Our running club begins on Tuesday, April 9. Students must be picked up by 3:30. Thursday, April 11 is kindergarten registration. If you have a child who will enter kindergarten next year schedule an appointment for the 11th here at Melrose. Report cards will go home on Friday, April 12. Have a great evening, Mrs. Bennett

Good evening Melrose Cardinals, I have several reminders for the week. The fifth grade roll orders are due tomorrow, Tuesday, March 26th. I am so proud of our Kids Run the Nation Running Club. They completed a 5K on Sunday. We will have a small awards ceremony tomorrow, Tuesday the 26th at 3:00. Our running club will stay after school and parents are welcome at 3:00 in the gym to join us. Students must be picked up at 3:30. PTO still needs a $5 donation from each student for the Egg Hunt on Friday the 29th. Those donations are due before Friday. Keep in mind parking is always an issue on party days. Please park on the church lot and walk to the gym at the assigned times. K and first starts at 11:30, second and third begins at 12:25 and fourth and fifth begin at 1:15. Our fifth grade will hold their annual Market Days on Thursday and Friday this week. Yearbook orders are due on the 29th too. Lastly, next week is spring break. Enjoy your week, Mrs. Bennett

AFTERNOON BUS INFO. The following buses will NOT run this afternoon, Wednesday, May 17th Bus 645 will not run this afternoon. This affects Bluewell, Bluefield Middle and Bluefield High. Also Bus 625 which affects Athens, Melrose, Pikeview Middle and Pikeview High.

Good evening Melrose Cardinals, I have an update on our Fifth Grade Donut fundraiser. Donuts will not be here until MONDAY. You may pick donuts up on Monday, March 20 between 2:30 and 3:00. These may be picked up in the cafeteria. All money and orders are due TOMORROW, Thursday, March 16th. Stay warm, Mrs. Bennett

Good evening Melrose Cardinals. I have several reminders to share. Don’t forget our kinder, first and second go see March of the Penguins on Friday. Make sure permission slips are turned in. Our Dr. Seuss week kicks off on Monday. There is a change in the schedule due to group pictures on Thursday, March 2. We will not celebrate hat day on Tuesday but instead have Thing 1 and Thing 2 and everything blue on Tuesday, February 28th. Look for information on our Kids Heart Challenge to come home. We kick this off on March 1st. Our annual aluminum can drive is almost here. Please save those cans and bring them to the school before May 1st. I have several reminders to share. First, this is a friendly reminder to SLOW down when in the parent pick up or drop off area. Remember we have little ones crossing in front of cars at times. Just slow down. Friday, February 10 is a 2-hour early out. We will begin dismissing at 12:15. Our student council is sponsoring a game day on Friday too. Students can attend if they bring $5 or three cans of food. All money and food will go to Amy’s House of Hope. Information went home earlier. Our shirt sale ends on February 15th. All orders are due on the 15th. Our fourth grade is sponsoring a sucker sale for Valentine’s Day. Flyers went home last week. Speaking of Valentine’s Day, remember we do not have parties for Valentine’s Day. We can have two parties a year and we have a winter and spring party.

All Mercer County Schools will operate on a 2 hour delay, tomorrow, Monday, January 23rd.

Attendance Matters!

Friday, January 13th will be a Re-Imagined Day for all Mercer County schools. Students will remain home and join their teachers in Teams meetings on their devices using the schedule previously provided by their school. Staff report to school on a two hour delay.

Good evening Melrose Cardinals. I have a few reminders to share. Do not forget Friday, January 13 is a 2 hour early out day. We will begin dismissing at 12:16. There is no school on Monday, January 16. The end of the 9 weeks is Wednesday, January 18 and report cards go home on Wednesday, January 25. This is a friendly reminder that students are tardy if not in their classroom by 7:30. It is important students are on time. Instruction begins at 7:30. Afternoon pickup for kindergarten is at 2:15.
